Client Overview & Scope

Our client is a leading company in the diverse industries of Steel Trading, Non-Ferrous Distribution, and Construction.

This role is designed to support the Senior Account Manager across key portfolios. It operates in a structured support capacity where you will care take existing business rather than autonomously negotiate contracts or actively pursue outbound business development.

For a professional who is strong operationally, commercially aware, and enjoys client engagement, there is excellent room for long-term development in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Consultancy & Technical Engagement:

  • Relationship Management: Proactively engage with customers to manage enquiries, resolve issues, and maintain strong relationships.
  • Technical Consultation: Briefly consult on technical matters regarding products and supply chains, or efficiently refer complex queries to senior Accounts specialists within the business.

Account Management:

  • Portfolio Assistance: Support the Senior Account Manager in the day-to-day management of key strategic accounts, including major corporate and defence organisations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders , including collaborating cross-functionally with the BDM in VIC, to ensure seamless service delivery and monitor account performance.
  • Account Growth: Identify growth opportunities within existing and potential accounts , acting in a supportive nature to drive cross-sell and up sell initiatives rather than leading new business acquisition.

Commercial & Contract Administration:

  • Documentation: Assist and prepare accurate quotations, pricing schedules, proposals, and customer documentation.
  • Administration: Assist with contract administration, tender submissions, and account reporting.
  • System Maintenance: Maintain accurate customer data, pricing structures, and reporting within SAP and internal ERP systems.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in account management.
  • Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering or Management is preferred.
  • Sector Exposure: Experience in Defence or Aerospace is highly advantageous (particularly with structured contracts); however, candidates from logistics or industrial distribution backgrounds who understand complex supply chains, pricing schedules, and ERP systems are equally encouraged to apply.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial awareness with the ability to understand pricing, margins, and customer requirements. High attention to detail and strong numerical capability.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in SAP and the Microsoft Office Suite is essential.

Salary, Work Rights & Location

  • $80K - $90K + Super
  • Location: Wetherill Park, NSW (5 days on-site role).
  • Full Australian working rights required.
